Visitation arrangements

Family and friends are able to visit Maroba with our procedure and protocols explained below. Please be aware that we receive regular updates from NSW Health and that as a result, visitation arrangements may change suddenly. We apologise if you are inconvenienced by a sudden change, however the safety of our residents, staff and visitors is paramount. If you are aware of a recent local community spike in coronavirus cases we recommend you call Maroba Reception (02) 4935 0300 to ask about our visitation arrangements.

As at 26 June 2020

If any staff or visitor has travelled to Victoria in the previous 14 days you are asked not to visit Maroba until the 14 day isolation period (outside of Victoria) has finished.

On 25 June, NSW Health issued a directive to aged care homes to deny entry to any visitor who has travelled to/from Melbourne until they have completed their 14 day isolation period. Due to concerns over the increase in coronavirus cases in Melbourne particularly in the Albury/Wodonga region, Maroba has extended this directive to the State of Victoria.

Meantime, we welcome back family and friends of Maroba (who have not travelled to/from Victoria) since we ceased visitation mid-March.

While there is good news, there remains tight protocols and  screening procedures in place for the protection of residents, however visiting family and friends is now possible at Maroba.

In order to keep everyone safe and in line with Federal guidelines, there are some protocols to follow:

  • Visiting is between 10-4.30pm, Monday to Friday with the doors locked at 5pm. No appointments are necessary unless visitation is not possible within these times.
  • All visitors must present with a current Influenza vaccination certificate, have their temperature checked, and sign in as usual;
  • There is to be a maximum of 2 people per visit with no age and time limit in place;
  • Visits are to be in rooms only. ie no congregating in communal areas.

Our recent detailed update (#16) can be downloaded  here. All other updates can be found under ‘News’.

And some protocols have not changed, please do not visit Maroba if you have

  • returned from overseas in the last 14 days;
  • been in contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19 in the last 14 days;
  • have a cold, fever or symptoms of a respiratory illness.

Please be aware that visitation restrictions have been relaxed, however there is always a chance that they could be quickly reversed even if there is the slightest indication of an infectious outbreak in the local community or as recommended by the Public Health Unit.

Zoom and FaceTime is available to anyone who wishes to connect with their loved one and appointments can be made via Reception on (02) 4935 0300.

Throughout the Covid19 pandemic, there have been lots of changes to the way that we live, communicate and work.  This has had a dramatic effect on the way that Maroba operates and the way in which residents, families and friends communicate and interact. This has not been easy for anyone and we are very grateful to everyone for their ongoing understanding, compassion and support.

Restrictions to the way in which we maintain social distancing are about reducing risk. As we have seen across the globe, the effect of this insidious disease is tragic and devastating particularly to those who are older. Throughout this crisis, Maroba has not yet recorded a positive case of Covid19. That said, there have been a number of tests conducted.

in the early days of the pandemic we were fielding many questions, so we compiled the questions that have been raised by our residents, their families, friends and our community that we thought might also be helpful to others. Access the document here

We will continue to send out updates as new information comes to hand.  If you wish to receive these updates and general information from Maroba that includes the Maroba Connect, our newsletter for residents and family members, please email marketing@maroba.com.au to be added to the distribution list or subscribe to our newsletter via our website here
