Update #6 – Outbreak 18.12.21
January, 02 2022
Dear Residents & family members,
Re: Outbreak (18.12.21) – Update #6
Firstly, let me wish you all a safe and healthy New year after so many trials and challenges throughout the past 2 years. I have appreciated everyone’s contribution and co-operation in keeping our Maroba community as safe as humanly possible during this period.
The good news is that our resident with Covid is doing well and still has not exhibited any symptoms. Likewise, all other residents remain symptom free and continue to be assessed twice daily.
We have just met online with our Health and Commonwealth support team and no new cases have been identified, although not all test results are available. (19 are still outstanding). When all results are back, we will review and relax movement within some areas and go back to basic personal protective equipment (PPE) for staff.
Honeysuckle residents will be retested on 4/01/22 and if all tests are negative we will be able to relax some of the current restrictions in that area, whilst isolation will continue for the effected resident for a limited time.
We will be in a better position to start planning for outdoor visiting as more local information regarding community cases of covid comes to hand, especially in light of the new definitions and testing arrangements. The Public Health Unit (PHU) advises this will be the biggest ongoing risk to Aged care residents and has indicated that any visitor to an Aged care service should make arrangements to perform their own Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) just prior to a visit. I was informed that Coles online has RAT kits as well as other outlets such as pharmacies.
Everyone at Maroba will certainly welcome the reduction in restrictions, but we must be patient as we ease into the next stage of this current outbreak.
In the meantime keep up your covid safe practices as you participate in everyday life! Those simple steps really do make a difference!
Yours sincerely
Yours sincerely
