Coronavirus update #1 from the CEO

The health and safety of our community is our utmost priority and with the rapid spread of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) we are taking measures that go above and beyond the criteria, and contact advise, set by the Australian Government. We have made the conscious decision to exceed the required exclusion criteria in an effort to keep ahead of the rapidly changing risk.

From today (11 March 2020) we are asking all visitors to Maroba (including staff and contractors) to complete a declaration that in the last 14 days, they have not:

  • undertaken international travel
  • knowingly been in contact with anyone who may have travelled internationally
  • knowingly been in contact with anyone with coronavirus

If visitors have answered yes to any of the above, unfortunately they are not able to visit Maroba at this time. We will request they refrain from visiting Maroba for a period of 14 days from travelling or the point of contact.

Additionally, we ask that visitors also declare that they are otherwise well (ie no sign of cold, flu or gastrointestinal symptoms). If symptoms are evident we will refuse entry until symptoms have resolved.

Whilst we acknowledge this may be inconvenient to some visitors, the evidence and early Australian experience of this pandemic is clear – elderly people are most at risk and in particular those living in a communal environment.
