Covid Vaccination Roll out at Maroba – 19 February 2021

The Covid vaccine has arrived in the country which is great news and residents and staff of aged facilities are included in one of the first groups to be vaccinated.

Maroba does not yet have a date of when the vaccinators will be at Maroba. As soon as we have a date we will advise via our usual communication channels.

Prior to administering a vaccine it is important for us to gain consent. Please note, that whether you are consenting to or declining the Vaccine we require a completed form to include in each residents record.

We have also advised all the General Practitioners attending Maroba that we require them to evaluate their patients and advise if there are any contraindications to them taking up the Vaccination. Please note the Doctors input is not an approval , just additional guidance to help support whatever decision you or your loved one may make.

Further questions about the Covid vaccine can be directed to your General Practitioner or the Registered Nurse at Maroba.

If you have questions about Coronavirus; their symptoms, what to do if you believe you or another person may have coronavirus this page is not for you. To find out more information about Covid-19, please;

  • Ring your local GP;
  • Or, if it is an emergency ring 000.

Visitation arrangements 

As at 19 February, 2021 no appointment is necessary Monday to Friday between the hours of 9-5.00 pm. These arrangements could change quickly however if there is a sudden outbreak of Covid-19 in our area and/or if directed to by NSW Health.

If unsure you are able to visit or travelling from out of the area we would recommend you contact Reception on (02) 4935 0300 during office hours prior to visiting Maroba.

Visiting on the weekend requires an appointment which can be made via Reception during business hours.

Special consideration to visiting outside of the above times and days is given to families of those residents who are palliating or providing care and can be discussed with the Director of Care or Clinical Care Partner.

On arrival, you will be required to check in via our Visitor Management System and answer a series of questions in the event of contact tracing.

In general, please do not visit if you have

  • returned from overseas in the last 14 days
  • been in contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • have a cold, fever or symptoms of a respiratory illness
  • have travelled to a designated outbreak area as per NSW Health guidelines   (click here to be directed to the NSW Health website. (Special consideration is given to the families of residents who may be palliating).Maroba is guided by the advice provided by the health authorities who regularly provide updates to the aged care sector on the Covid-19 situation in NSW.

You may be asked to wear a mask whilst in the facility if we are directed to request this by NSW Health.

Maroba has maintained a pro-active position throughout this pandemic to not only ensure the safety of residents and staff but also their wellbeing. Sometimes our risk assessment has gone above and beyond that recommended by the NSW Health authorities if we feel this is in the best interests of all concerned.

Maroba will continue to respond to the Covid circumstances bringing all our expertise, external advice and compassion to our decision making and planning process.

If  you are not able to visit the facility, Zoom and FaceTime is available to anyone who wishes to connect with their loved one and appointments can be made via Reception on (02) 4935 0300.
